Under the influence of the global financial crisis, Inner Mongolia's import and export volume dropped sharply from 1 to February this year, but exports of textiles, clothing, shoes and caps went against the trend.

In March 18th, reporters learned from the Hohhot customs that Inner Mongolia's foreign trade and import and export had dropped sharply in November for 4 consecutive months. The total value of imports and exports from 1 to February this year was only 650 million US dollars, down 48.21% compared with the same period last year.

Among them, imports of US $393 million decreased by 55.1%, and exports of US $259 million decreased by 32.56%.

From 1 to February this year, the import and export volume of Inner Mongolia's imports and exports of mineral products, logs, mechanical and electrical products, exported steel products, mechanical and electrical products and other traditional import and export bulk commodities declined sharply.

But at the same time, exports of textiles, clothing, shoes and caps are against the trend.

Clothing exports of $31 million 275 thousand, footwear of $3 million 413 thousand, and hat category of $306 thousand, respectively, increased by 79.64%, 220.96%, and 48.97% over the same period last year.

According to the analysis, there are three main reasons for Inner Mongolia textile, clothing, shoes and hat export rising sharply. These commodities are consumer goods closely related to the daily life of the people. With the deepening of the financial crisis, people become frugal and prudent in daily expenses, and are more inclined to buy good quality and cheap products. After years of continuous development, China has become the main production base of world textile and clothing, and its technology, quality and product grades are constantly improving. The price has strong advantages. Since August last year, the state has raised the export rebates for 4 times, mainly involving textile, clothing and other labor-intensive products, which, to a certain extent, reduced the cost of export enterprises and improved the market competitiveness.

Relevant organizations suggest that Inner Mongolia's clothing, shoes and hat enterprises should fully apply the policies promulgated by the state to promote the development of foreign trade.

Governments at all levels should strengthen support for the textile industry, help enterprises to carry out technological pformation, adjust their operating structure, develop intensive processing, and create comprehensive competitive advantages.

At the same time, we should strengthen the quality control of export commodities, enhance competitiveness, seek, develop and cultivate new markets and promote exports.
