Bright Prospects For Organic Cotton Development In India

Mr Dhiren Sheth, President of the India Cotton Association (ACI), said that India's organic cotton production has great potential for development, and its demand is also expanding. The world's output of organic cotton reached 225000 tons in 2008-09.

He said that India is the world's largest producer of organic cotton, contributing more than 50% of the world's output of organic cotton, but only 1.4% of India's total output of organic cotton.

He said that the development prospects of organic cotton are good, and the awareness of environmental products in western countries is gradually strengthening, which will be pformed into the driving force to promote the development of organic cotton.
