China Will Aim At ASEAN'S Development Opportunities For Cotton Textile Industry

In recent years, ASEAN textile industry has formed a cooperation and competition situation with China's textile industry.

In terms of competition, the textile and garment industry of ASEAN relies on the advantages of low labor price and low tariff, which makes the price of textile products low, and has strong competitiveness.

In terms of cooperation, the development of ASEAN garment industry needs a lot of raw materials, but ASEAN textile industry is relatively weak, and needs to import from China and become the export market of Chinese fabrics.

At the same time, ASEAN has also taken part of the capacity pferred from China. With the low price advantage, the export volume of ASEAN yarn products to China is increasing year by year.

At present, the textile industry of ASEAN is mainly concentrated in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, but the total volume is very small, and is still in the initial stage of development. In addition, the economic and political situation of different countries is very different, so the development of textile industry in different countries is different.

As a free trade area, ASEAN's textile industry is in urgent need of integration.

Since January 1, 2010, more than 90% of the products of the 6 old members of China and ASEAN, namely Brunei, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore, have been subject to zero tariff. The average tariff rate of China has been reduced from 9.8% to 0.1%, and the average tax rate of ASEAN's 6 old members has decreased from 12.8% to 0.6%.

ASEAN's 4 new members, namely Vietnam, Laos, Kampuchea and Burma, will achieve the goal of 90% zero tariff in 2015.

This will bring great opportunities to China's textile industry.

ASEAN cotton textile industry is not large.

According to the statistics of the International Federation of textile mills in 2008, the ring spinning of six ASEAN countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines and Burma is about 14 million 818 thousand spindles, 244 thousand for rotor spinning, 137 thousand for shuttle looms and 282 thousand for shuttle looms.

In terms of the size of the cotton textile industry, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam account for the top three, of which Indonesia accounts for about half of the size of the six countries.

In terms of fiber consumption, the International Federation of textiles and textiles carried out statistics on Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Philippines in 2008. In 2008, five countries consumed 2 million 616 thousand and 500 tons of fiber, including 1 million 425 thousand and 700 tons of cotton.

The top three people who consumed fiber in relation to the industrial scale were Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, of which Indonesia accounted for more than 50% of the total textile industry.
