Pakistan Approves MFN Status In India

The cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Gilani of Pakistan has been approved.

Most favored nation (MFN) status.


This will probably greatly promote the two countries.

Trade

The volume of trade may be doubled from the current US $2 billion 500 million to US $5 billion.


The cabinet of Pakistan unanimously decided to lift the import of India's products.

At present, only 1946 products can be directly duty-free into Pakistan from India.


On the other hand, India has granted Pakistan the most favoured nation status in 1996, and India has adopted restrictive measures on the 850 products traded with Pakistan.


Pakistan's latest decision is mainly related to trade and will pave the way for the abolition of non-tariff barriers and all other trade restrictions.

The visa policy between the two countries is also expected to ease.
