Compared with the cotton, wool, linen and chemical fibers used in everyday clothing, the strength and permeability of alginate fiber are much higher.

At present, the scientific research team is using seaweed fiber to make a special garment, mainly for making special clothing for fire and military personnel.

This seaweed garment is lighter and more flexible than the heavy fire-fighting clothing that firemen now have.

It is understood that seaweed is an important renewable marine resource. The output of seaweed in China is 500 thousand tons per year, accounting for 56% of the world. Shandong is an important base for the cultivation and research of seaweed in China. Its output accounts for more than 2/3 of the whole country.

Qiingdao University's "marine biomass fiber new material" project will be launched in large quantities, which can lead to a new industrial chain and economic growth point in the fields of algae culture, fiber, textile and other industries.
