Japan'S "Muji" Increases Investment In China

The second stores in the mainland of Japan's department store giant "Muji" opened in Zhengda square, Pudong.

After the opening of the first exclusive shop in mainland China in July 2005, there has been no sign of expansion in Nanjing West Road because of trademark disputes.

Today, a new Muji shop, which has won a successful trademark issue, shows its determination to accelerate the expansion of new stores in the mainland of China.

After opening the first store in the mainland of China in Nanjing West Road, Shanghai, in July 2005, a Hongkong company registered the "Muji" trademark on 25 clothing and footwear products in mainland China, resulting in the sale of the 25 goods in the first shop of MUJI Shanghai in Japan, and no further opening of new stores in the mainland of China.

It was not until December 2007 that the trademark litigation of Muji in Beijing and the Hongkong company finally won.

MUJI has increased its investment in the Chinese market. In the No. two store of Zhengda Plaza, the goods are basically synchronized with the Japanese stores. Compared with the 1500 goods in the first store, the number two shop has increased to 2400 kinds.

It is reported that the Muji shop opened in Chia Tai Plaza is the seventy-second store outside the Japanese mainland.
