The EU has formally implemented the new textile label regulations since May 8th, and has put forward new requirements for the name of textile fibers, the contents of textile labels and other marks.

Requirements: the labels of textile products must be marked with the country of origin. If the product is packaged, it should be marked on the package; other commercial documents showing the origin of the product can not be used as a substitute for labels; at least two links in the manufacturing process of a textile spinning, weaving, finishing or sewing are considered as originating from the European Union countries in the manufacturing process of the European Union; textile labels must clearly indicate whether there are non textile parts derived from animals, such as fur and leather; if products imported from third countries, the labels of the original products should be mandatory.

For the products listed for sale before May 8, 2012, the regulation has been given a pitional period. The deadline for the pition is November 9, 2014. After that date, the relevant products will be withdrawn from the market or must comply with the latest regulations.
