Vietnam's Ministry of Commerce and industry said recently that the export scale of Vietnam's textile and garment industry was set at 11 billion 500 million US dollars in 2009.

He expects textile and clothing products to increase in price, which will help Vietnam achieve its export targets.

Vinatex predicts that Vietnam's export to Japan will break through because bilateral trade agreements signed between the two countries in September will come into effect in 2009.

According to the agreement, Japan will import tariffs on textiles and garments produced from Vietnam or ASEAN raw materials to 10% from zero.

This year, Vietnam's textile and garment industry is expected to achieve the export target of 9 billion 500 million US dollars. In the first 8 months of this year, Vietnam's textile and clothing exports reached about 6 billion 40 million US dollars, up 20% over the same period last year. In Vietnam's commodity exports, textile and apparel products ranked second, second only to crude oil.
